THE TREE TEACHING

One day in 1991 while camping at Sand Flats on Mt. Shasta - I took a hike. I like to mindlessly walk thru the woods letting Spirit guide my feet - following that tiny, quiet urge of the Higher Self to go here and there - just ambling with no direction.

I came upon a medicine wheel and I thought "great, this is where I will meditate". I sat in the middle of the circle, made my mind a blank and was immediately told to move on. What? Of course I argued with this mental command but it just kept urging me to move on. It was obvious I wasn't going to be able to meditate there so I left and started mindlessly walking along again.

I came upon an enormous "dead" tree lying on the ground. Looking at its rate of melting back into Gaia, you could tell it had been down for a long time. I sat on it, picked up a piece of its bark and thought "wow, you must have been so magnificent when you were alive".  The tree spoke - it said "just because you are standing there breathing and I am lying here doesn't make our essences any different" - put me in my place! I apologized to this magnificent being and then it said "when man starts to look for perfection, he will see God".

So I've been following this tree's advice ever since then - looking at how perfect everything is no matter how negative I initially think it is. In shifting my point of view, I started seeing life on a whole different level.  So now when I start judging or getting bummed out about something, I look for the perfection and have a revelation.  I luv putting my ego in its proper place.

There are no accidents. The Uni-verse is a perfect mirror. This can be quite humbling when you practice mindfulness and realize that the very realities you don't like you are feeding. We have to break with old agreements and train ourselves to focus on the realities we prefer - those that are the greatest good for all, win-win situations, etc.

That's how we will break the spell! The "Powers that were" know this and that's why they bought up the media and cram their version of reality down our throats.
